What's a High-Performance Home?
A home's value isn't set by finishes and square footage alone. Solar, insulation, HVAC, indoor air quality, water efficiency and resilience all shape how a home lives, and how buyers judge it.
A high-performance home is designed or improved to run efficiently while delivering more comfort, health, safety, resilience and energy performance. Pearl SCORE looks at five pillars: safety, comfort, operations, resilience and energy. These are the things photos and listing descriptions rarely show.
If you're selling, solar panels, batteries, efficient HVAC and smart-home systems are real investments. They don't automatically turn into market value, though. Most efficient homes don't lose value for lack of features. They lose it because the features were never documented or explained. Gathering records and building those benefits into your pricing and marketing story makes performance visible to buyers.
If you're buying, a home can look efficient without performing efficiently. Look beyond appearances at utility costs, solar ownership versus lease, battery storage, insulation, windows, air quality and documented improvements.
